Camp Kalorama Washington D.C. July 12th 1861 Dear Parents As you wished me to write often I am now seated to drop a few lines to you although I do not know as there is any more news in particular for me to tell you and I write this time with ink although it is sometimes very hard to get it when we are on the march but as we have now been in camp here some time we can get it but do not know whether we can fix it so that we can carry it but we shall try to do so.
