Patent Office Hospital Washington D. C. Sept. 27th 1862 Dear Parents- once more I am seated to write to you although I have not heard from you since yours Sept. 8th reached me and now I shall have to get the Surgeon to frank this owing to my losing all my stamps with my knapsack of which I wrote you in my last. I am still here and am gaining as fast as I could expect yet not as fast as I wish but think I shall be able to join the regt. in another week or ten days at most though I may not
