Aquia Creek Va May 4th 1863 Dear Parents Your welcome letter of April 21st came to hand yesterday whilst listening to the booming of cannon at Fredericksburg and towards night we got the glorious news that Fredericksburg is ours with the heights beyond and some of our officers who were witness to the affair say that there were some of the pretiest movements and most brilliant charges made during the war. I have not heard how the right got along yet but can at this moment hear the boom boom of distant cannon telling plainly that the fight is not yet ended But you will probably get a
