full account in the newspapers before this reaches you so I will not attempt to describe what I have not seen myself but only heard from others. We do not know for certain when we shall be sent from here report says we start next Thursday but if we are held two years from the time we were mustered into the U. S. Service it will keep us until the 20th of May or rather we were mustered in the U. S. Service the 20th but must be returned to the state by that time. I shall come home at the expiration of my time whether I reenlist again or not. How much will it take to pay Isaac's expenses through to California.
