Dement Apr 7 68 My Dear Daughter For the first Since I arrived in this place I find myself alone at least Father and I are left to keep house whilst the rest are all gone to a Concert it has been quite a stiring day here town meeting which was held at the Dement house and then we have 2 Gents and a Lady that give the Concert Mr Cushing we have eight (8) regular boarders, well you begin to want to know how I like being Landlady, well I do not think it begins with my quiet home, but we have had a good many disadvantages to contend with there is 2 cisterns one was dry the water smelt so bad in the other that when it began to sprinkle a little one day we had a Post Mortem examination made when lo up came a dead Cat so we thought the water as bad as spoiled, and we have had no rain I have made a good many mistakes which you will please excuse To thank Alice began write on Sunday but did not get it finished and say they again she
