President Jessup telling me the news of the University in a chummy way. He's surely a good fellow to find time from the activities of a big job to keep in touch with the absentees. And there was also a very clever letter from Earl Hall (known better as Alco Hall), my student assistant last year and sub now in the publicity work. He cheers me with news of how I'm remembered by the youngsters who worked with me. Mayhap you'll be interested in part of what he says. Quotes as follows: " 'That surely is a bird of a picture.' This is a verbatim quotation from Gretchen Kane when she saw your picture. The rest of us agreed with her in sentiment, although no one was so emotional as Gret. You certainly have a place in the hearts of the students who took work under you last year. You have no idea how often I hear some of the bunch wish you were back. In the service flag presented presented by the girls on the Iowan staff at the Iowan banquet about the middle of February there are fifteen stars and the upper one is designiated for Conger Reynolds." Nice of him to tell me all that bunk, isn't it? And I half suspect it's true. You'd like my gang as you do your own flock.
