Fifty-six. April 16, 1918. Conger Reynolds 2nd Lt., A.G.D., NA. My chic li'l Wife,- It was a good letter to go to sleep on. (I supppse you'll read that the wrong way and say something cutting to your blundering old hubby.) Really, I didn't go to sleep at once. After I had reread the latter part several times I lay there blinking at the darkness and thinking what a chummy sort my good little wife is. I cautiously reached over toward the right to see if I could pretend that I had my arm under her wooly head, but the icyness of the sheets in that vicinity was discouraging. I couldn't even make believe with any comfort. I'm expecting to read soon
