Fifty-Seven April 18, 1918 Honey,- I've just arrived at Chez moi at 9:45 after a gay evening with the boys. The gayety was manifested chiefly in song. Late in the afternoon, Captain Adams, having exhausted the possibilities of the newspapers and the afternoon communiques, produced a mouth organ and proceeded to play everything from "Silver Threads among the Gold" to "Tipperary". A chorus quickly formed about him, and our office resounded to some appalling chords. I was busy with the censoring - so busy that i could do nothing but submit. Then we went to dinner. Between courses, the captain called the maid by playing
