wishing that conditions were such that my wife could be here. Speaking of Mrs. Roosevelt - I heard a story about her today that made me like her. It's Mrs. T. R. Jr., you know - not the great old boy's wife. The other day she was in our offices in Paris when some news films were being shown for the censor to criticize. One showed her husband presenting the first American war crosses to members of his outfit who had won them by bravery in action. And the Mrs. cried all the way through it - she was so proud of her husband and his boys. When I heard the story I thought of how my dear wept under somewhat similar conditions, and thrilled anew at the thought. Could a soldier want better inspiration than the tears of his wife?
