[4-16-18] 12 A.M. Sixty-three. Dear Darling of a Wife,- The clock in the 17th century church a half block from my window has just finished striking midnight. But I wanted to write to you tonight, even though I've just written to the little mother a long letter that you'll see, because this is the night after another of our anniversaries. It's rather heartless to keep reminding you of that slip you made on a famous 25th day of the month, but husbands are thoughtless about those little things. You surely let your old friend Jimmy do enough to you for one day. I am moved to say you faced it like a Spartan. Aside from the fact that you wiggled your fingers you showed no sign of concern over the great event.
