Sixty-four 26 April, 1918. My dear Wif,- It is just balmy enough tonight that for the first time I feel that I should like to stroll in the moonlight. If I had someone to go with - my wife, for instance - I'd go. I should like to see the valley by moonlight from the hilltop, or the terraced hill from the valley. This afternoon the sun shone for awhile and Lieutenant Parks and I went out for a walk. We followed the path beside the wandering Afton (That's not its name, but it will do). The "Afton" is neither a river nor a creek; it is somewhere between. In ordinary times it flows very quietly over its rocky bed so clear that one can easily watch the tiny fishes playing in its moderate depths. Today it was swollen from
