Tues A.M. [Sep. 8, 1942] Dear Laura: Well, here I am at school early because we expected a bigger day than usual, but so far they haven't brought a new student to our dept. Cound have slept another hour!! Bill and I arrive in Detroit last evening at 7:30, leaving Aurora at 9:20 Sun. A.M. Drove around 50 and made only one short stop. Car functioned beautifully and Bill drove with unusual care. Have it in garage and will try to take good care of it. This week I have two oral lessons and then begin driving. By the end of this month, I should be able to start out along. I noticed when I unpacked that I had left my panties and slip in your bedroom. Will you have time to mail them? If you had a large manila envelope, that would be less trouble to use.
