Sept 16 1942 Dearest:- Well I'm back in the barracks and it is early yet no one is here yet We got all dressed up for guard and marched down to the guard house and we went thru inspection and I was lucky enough to be picked out of 22 men it is supposed to be the best looking soldier that gets but I don't know what helped me out I can sleep in my own bed and be a messenger for the colonel tomorrow then
