U. S. Infantry Camp Croft, S. C. Sept 18 1942 Fri nite Dearest:- Another day over I spent the whole day at reg. hdqs. seemed good to be among well trained men there were, Colonels, majors, & captains & "louies" they don't act as smart as some of the lesser officers, they treated me fine & gave me a one day pass I got to use it within 3 days I wish I could save it for some other time I'm going to take it starting tomorrow nite at 5:00 oclock I'm going to some town and get a hotel room and just loaf not come back until sun eve. there is a nite hike on tomorrow and I hope to get out of it with my pass
