Fri nite Sept 19 1942 Dearest:- I'm in Spartanburg got a room in a hotel it is a corner room on the 5th floor a window on the north & west there is a cool breeze coming in the north window this is realy the best place I have been since I left home I am alone & it is fairly quiet I came in after 5:00 that is when my pass started it runs till tomorrow nite 5:00 and I don't have to be in camp till 6:00 Monday morning I am going to do a lot of loafing I went down the street and got some pork chops the meal was
