while I worked and she came to get them. She spoke of hunting to George's wife and otherwise acting a lot more sensibly than she formerly did. She is too informed about neighbors and has too specific ideas to be perfect. I don't expect perfection because I saw as {hear?} that in {Unknown word} Mothers as I expect to find on earth. But every day I'm impressed how few of the older women measure up in the same group, even as Mother. You'd have laughed the other day when I met Uncle John Swain out exercising Mrs. {Pritchard's?} dog, Star. He said right after greeting me and like a bolt out of the blue "you should be thankful you don't have something like this?" I was so surprised and amused that I had to struggle to control my reaction. Star does not "love" me any better than she ever did. This is quite a lengthy letter. Send me news whenever you can and the fastest way. I love you and hope with the passing of every single day that it will end soon, and we can be with each other. Don't let us forget any of the good things of our life together. There is no better husband anywhere. Love to my laddie, Laura
