2 mentioned in the letter I wrote before starting them. I mowed and trimmed the back lawn. More trimming yet, but I got a lot of it done. I tied up the drooping hydrangeas by the west foundation. The walnut tree should be trimmed, as should the cemetery trees, but I don't want to touch them if you will be home within the year. Virginia Sigminds mother is ill and I sent her a bouquet of the hydrangeas. Irene Petrak told me they lasted so long and did not make a mess to take care of, so I thought they were a good kind for invalids then. This morning's Register is as full of stories about the atomic bomb as the radio has been. The next generation will live in a world of scientific wonders if we don't kill ourselves off before that time.
