817-19 St. S.E. Cedar Rapids, Iowa August 12, 1945 Dearest, This is your Saturday letter, getting composed on Sunday noon. Your package was on the porch when I came home last eve about eight. Then Ardie & Mrs. Nunnally came and I didn't get to bed until after 11:30. Exploring your box was interesting. You are in excellent condition and no change from your pre-war self in behavior patterns! Isn't it awful to have a social work wife? But you see my dear, I am your mate, not your case worker. So I am happy to see by objective means, the report of some things I've wanted to know for sure. I can hardly wait for you to tell me the story of where you got each item, or why it is being kept. You can tell such good stories and explanations when you are in form. I went through all the stuff very carefully for several
