P.O. Box 229 WEST UNION, IOWA July 16, 1943 Hi, Butch, While Zaida, the steno, is out for coffee, I'll take ad- vantage of the pause in dictation to send you a little note. I am now a full-fledged CWW without the IT, and that, in my estimation, is worthy of mention. We took our exams in DesMoines on Tuesday -- and was it ever hot! The exam was really terrific, but the official word has come through that I have passed, so my worries are over. Along with that announcement this morning came a new listening of the county workers, who they are and where they are situated. I thought you might be interested in some of those details -- particularly about Elma Leurs, because I had told you that one of the new kids went to Union Co., but I knew nothing of E.L.'s whereabouts. She is temporarily substituting in DesMoines County ( and I know not where Mrs. Brown is) and is to replace Helen Mosena in Appanoose County in September. Miss M's destination is also unan- nounced. Mrs. Palmer remains in Albia, Mrs. Hedum is the Council Bluff's victim, Miss Adele Eisler (who seems to have come from a year of school) goes to Clarion the latter part of August. Miss M. Lenore Brown(whom I think was in school as a CWWIT without benefit of the unit) is now Dubuque. Mavis Smith is at Estherville, and the others are people who have been and seem to be remaining. So now, come August I, you will know all your fellow staff members (unless there are some changes between now and then.) And how fast those changes can happen. Betty K. was all set for Council Bluffs, feeling very happy about it because she will be able to get to her home by train very easily. Behold and lo! Aunt Laura telephoned her just two or three days before her vacation was to start and asked her if she would mind going to Ottumwa instead. Fortunately, she doesn't mind, because she used to be director in Bloomfield and has friends in that vicinity. So now she is in Chicago, returns soom
