Camp Parks, California February 16, 1944 Dear Frances, Your letter came Saturday but didn't take time to write 'til now. Guess all of my old mail has finally caught up with me, including the package and Time Magazine. Thanks for both, as there were a pile of packages for us, we are well supplied with "Santa Claus" at our house. I say ours because all of the cooks live in a separate building near the galley. There are a number of battalions here, just resting for an indefinite period. We share a galley with the 13th, which was at Dutch Harbor, so together we have more cooks than is needed. We have plenty of first class galley equipment and fresh groceries. Naturally, the work is a snap. Guess I told you we worked every other day. That gives us liberty when off duty.
