U.S. Infantry Camp Croft S.C. Sun 26 (1942) Dearest: - Your air mail letter came yesterday the 25 it was postmarked 11:30 PM the 23. I got a letter from Freddie it was postmarked 10:30 AM the 23 they both came yesterday. I got it at noon you can compare the time not a great lot of difference. Freddie wrote a long letter it was a good one told a lot of things I would like for you to call him up. Tell him I liked it very much and will write another some time. As for coming down here I don't think it would be very good, it is so blasted hot and they say next month is worse I'm afraid mother would have a hard time. 1000 miles is quite a long trip that would be quite a drag on her during hot weather. I know you could stand it all right, I don't have much time off yet that I can leave camp.
