Tues. nite [9-9-42] Dearest-- I was on K.P. today the boys went on a tough hike I was glad I got out of it we had plenty to eat the cooks are good fellows give us a lot of breaks. Your letter came at noon one of the boys brought it up to the mess hall I had plenty time to read it. It was a good letter it seemed to be a pleasant rest after quite a lot of tension and heavy thinking I'm glad the red car has a good owner I wouldn't like to have an outsider get it because it is quite a prize during these times I did some washing tonite I do a little most every day then I dont get
