U.S. ARMY FORT GEORGE G. MEADE, MD. Nov 26, 1942 Dearest: Thanksgiving day is just the same as any other day around camp got up earlier and worked harder then yesterday got off about one home early There is big talk about a good meal tonite. I suppose they will put on a big show then we will go hungry for the duration Just come back from the big meal it was a good one all right we were all dressed up and they took about a dozen pictures of the tables they were better all right. we had turkey, mashed potatoes, peas gravy, a big salad made of lettuce tomatoes etc. cobber with sugar & cream, bowls of nuts and candy, a large dish of fruit salad, cigars & cigarettes I think my fourlough. will be from Dec 2 to Dec 8 I sure feel good to think I can get home for 2 or 3 days. we will have lots more time for love and enjoying each other
