Wednesday Dear, dear Mrs. Whitley, thank you so much for your sweet letter. It meant much to me to hear from you, who understand so well all that I've gone through since I saw you. The whole stay this time has been one of agony, with struggles along the way to "catch somewhere, oh my soul" (as Whitman says) to my ideals of courage and hope. Now, I'm thankful.
