place was completely ruined, and it was filled with beautiful cars - there was one brand new custom-built Packard in the middle, right next to the place where the explosion occurred: you should have seen it the next day. The garage was owned by a woman who had no insurance. Nice. I went down to the Library yesterday and got a card - good for three years. I wanted to get a book (A Man Called Cervantes) for a book-report, but since the Chicago Library has not purchased a book since June, 1931, that was out of the question. I have two book-reports, two term-papers, a paper on Hamlet and various minor things due presently. I'm very glad you got glasses and are going to summer school, Mary (although I don't know that a pro-seminar course is), but please do not strain yourself, what with the play and Italian and all. I'm sorry you can't come over for the 4th, but I wish you would soon. Jo is swell. The cuisine is of course wonderful and distressingly plentiful.
