California venture has been terribly worthwhile, and I hope that you will feel that it has not been a complete waste of money, as indeed I myself formerly felt on more than one occasion.
Work has been very clack as it always is around Christmas-time - in fact I have worked only a few days during the whole three weeks of vacation and as a result am very flat.  I had a payment due at school the 30th of December but put off writing you in the desperate hope that I could raise the 24 bucks but now I see that it is no use, and once again will have to ask you for it.  The mountain expedition, incidentally, cost me nothing.  I certainly hate to have to ask you for it, especially at this time when I know you have had heavy expenses, but it seems to be the only course.  I have to buy licenses & more insurance this month also.  The Hoosier Casualty Company informed me today by registered mail that they have elected to cancel my policy within five days of the receipt hereof.
