Thursday 13 October - '38 Dear Dad & Mary - I have not written you much of late, but really there is nothing to write about. Everything has resolved itself into a placid uneventful routine, almost monastic in character. I like it very much here and I am greatly interested in all my courses, except Geology which naturally I detest. I am particularly fond of the Chaucer, Shakespeare, and Philosophy courses. Schramm as a teacher is somewhat disappointing. I went to a Newman club meeting last night, but I do not think I will go again. I mean, the thing is obviously primarily social - sort of a CYO affair.
