115 B Quadrangle Iowa City, Iowa Saturday night 3-2-40 Dear Dad and Mary - I have been terribly busy and hence unable to write earlier than this. Thank you ever some much for the books, the clothes, and the check. I regret that I can not do this any more cheaply than I am, but I feel that I can safely assure you that it will be different after this term. I have applied for a scholarship for next year which will mean no tuition for the full year and a two-thirds reduction in tuition both for this summer and the following summer. Furthermore I should have no difficulty getting a board job this summer and next year, so that all that will be left will be my room rent. Of course I haven't gotten the scholarship yet, but I see no reason why there would be any difficulty. I had to get a transcript of credits for the graduate college (in connection with the scholarship) and I observed that my scholastic record for the four years of college is really very high; it is not a straight A,
