3 some such project would be fun, or perhaps a translation of Sappho or Pindar, or some of the Goliardic verse of the Middle Ages. Anyway, it is all stuff to think about. And translation, I feel, offers a happy medium between purely scholarly and purely creative work. I thought, Mary Ellen, that you might be amused at the enclosed verses, knowing Foerster as you do. The hymn solennel was presented to him and elicited the other in reply. I think the lines "Foerster sitting on his throne, Mumbling in an Attic drone" are priceless. Thank you for sending the review of the Dorfman concert - I think it was swell. I still maintain that you write the most original criticisms that I have yet encountered. Did you hear about P.G. Clapp being awarded the medal of the Bruckner society, along with Toscanini, Stokowski, Klemperer, and the rest of the big boys? With regard to the car, I disposed of it for the sum of ninety dollars, to a private party, having previously discovered that no used car agency would offer me nearly that much. It is late, and I am tired - so this is all for now. Love, Joseph
