be done about it. It would be impossible for me to find a roommate in view of Iowa City's present state of de-population, and anyway I am not at all anxious to have a roommate for these three weeks. In view of this unfortunate fact I shall probably require some additional funds by the end of this week. I finished reading your mss, Mary Ellen, on Sunday night, but shall defer any discussion of it until I next see you. For the moment, suffice it to say that I enjoyed it thoroughly, that I think it is altogether an excellent job of writing, and that I firmly believe you should let nothing deter you from, or interfere with, the career of creative artist to which this work, regardless of its fate, so clearly entitles you. My faith in your ability is boundless. Let me know if you wish the mss returned immediately. I am most eager to see Part II. This is all for the nonse. Thanks so much for everything. Love, Joseph P.S.: I had a very enjoyable week-end in Dubuque; thank you.
