2 B. & B. (Benedictine & Brandy) at the Walnut about ten o'clock - it was terrific - F.H. & I talked like mad about everything all those hours: I like him enormously, despite his political and racial prejudices. Monday night I dragged Father to O. Welles' Citizen Kane which he didn't enjoy too hugely, but I did. Tuesday night a huge party at the Lacy's for Barbara McNeely (Barbara Mueller since 9:00 this morning) which also ended up at the H.R of the C. - me with Charlotte Heisey whom I like - we talked for hours after leaving the Circle. This morning I took her and May Lacy to the wedding and to the reception and breakfast which followed. After that too, Charlotte & I talked a lot - the conversation this morning ended up by my lending her my now-marginally annotated copy of The New Laokoou - so you can surmise the tenor of our conversations. The wedding was very simple and beautiful - in St. Philmena's, Asbury with Rev. Kepper officiating. - no Mass of course, hence very brief and to the point. The reception like the wedding and the Tuesday night party, was mobbed with society - lots of people asked about you - I met Mrs [Ruf?] Herr (at the party) & she asked to be remembered to you, and a lot of others. Now about the hypothetical Mrs. Miller, who not only is not 'delivering' (or if she is, I am not aware of it, God knows) - in brief, she has not appeared at 1182 [Lomard?], and the
