3736 12th St., N.E. Washington, D.C. 5 September, 1942 Dear Dad - Thank you for your letter, but I am quite sure that I have written you more recently than June 25 - I cannot imagine what could have happened to the letter, though. Mary has probably told you that I took a few days off and went to Akron to visit Meg. The most I could have taken was seven days, and it did not seem worthwhile to go all the way to Dubuque for that little time. Besides, I will probably be there soon enough, when the Army gets around to me. As it was, I had a very pleasant time - took the train to Cumberland, Maryland, where Meg and her family were visiting, spent about a day a half there and then drove to Akron with them. We arrived in Akron Friday afternoon and I left Monday evening, so it was not a very extensive vacation. This draft situation continues to be very upsetting.
