October, FRIDAY, 25 1861. Wrote home to-day also cooking for the mess it is hard work. the boys come to their meals like wild hogs and in a twinklin my vituals are "minus". SATURDAY 26. T.J. Dowd marker, & my self proposed to Join the Regt. but on asking Capt Clark he refused us we have got to stay here until both Co's go. SUNDAY, 27. Took another sail today the river does not run so swift, it was very pleasant, I enjoyed the sail much.
