Orange Layer Cake. 8 eggs, 1 cup sugar, butter size of an egg. 1 cup flour, 1 heaping teaspoon of baking-powder, Bake in jelly tins, & spread with orange filling Filling - Grate part of the yellow rind of a juicy orange, then peel & grate that & another orange, remove the seed, add 2 tablespoons water, 1 cup sugar, & scald in a [ganmir?] kettle Stir into it 1 tablespoon corn starch made smooth in a little cold water, & cook till the corn starch is thick. Beat the whites of 2 eggs to a stiff froth with 1 cup powdered sugar, warm enough to spread in the tops stir the rest into the orange when it is almost cold. flavor the icing with orange extract. Royal Unfermented Bread. To make, loaf, 1 qt flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 2 heaping teaspoons Royal baking powder. half medium sized cold boiled potato, & water. Sift together thoroughly flour, salt, sugar & baking powder, rub in the potato, add sufficient water to mix smoothly & rapidly into a stiff
