baking dish, add a layer of chicken & so on until all is in - letting the top layer be of corn. pour over it the chicken gravy & 1 cup of sweet cream, & bake in a moderately heated oven. Cucumber Salad. (Lucy Hazlett. Chop 12 cucumbers, 12 onions, 6 large green peppers, add 1/4 lb black mustard seed; 1/4 lb white mustard seed, 8 oz celery seed, & 1 tea-cup of salt. Hang up in a citron bag to drain for 24 hours, then put in a jar nearly air-tight, & cover with cider vinegar. Dried Tomatoes. Peel & cut as for canning, Boil until reduced 1/2. 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoonful salt to each gal of tomatoes, spread in platters & dry in the over or sun, Soak several hours in warm water before using.
