Take little pieces of risen bread dough & roll in the hands as for biscuit - then put in a spider with some butter & cover. When brown turn, & keep enough butter in the spider to prevent sticking. It takes but little butter & are easily & quickly cooked - good for breakfast. Eat with butter & syrup. Brown Bread. Mrs. Greenlee. 3 cups Indian meal 2 cups graham flour 1 cup molasses or 1/2 cup if you do not like it very sweet 1 tea spoon salt - 1 tea spoon soda - water to make a thin batter - steam 4 hours - bake 1/2 an hour. Graham Gems. Etta. 2 cups Graham flour 1 small cup flour 2 cups sour milk 1 " sweet " 1 tea spoon soda - 1 pinch salt 1/2 cup sugar Bake quickly in hot oven. 1 egg is an improvement.
