Tomato Preserve. Use the yellow round variety & do not have them too ripe. Scald & peel, weigh & add equal weight of sugar. Put the fruit & sugar together & let stand over night. In the a.m. remove the fruit & boil the syrup -- removing the scum carefully. -- put in the tomatoes & boil gently 20 or 30 minutes then remove the fruit and boil the syrup till it thickens -- then pour over the fruit & put up in small jars. Green tomatoes can be used in the same way. Household.
