Ceder Rapids Iowa U.S.A. June 27 - 1943 Dear Lloyd: Well, old boy it has been quite a spell since I have heard from you so will scratch off a few lines, and if you have a chance please write. I envy you some what as you have has some trip one that you will always cherish, a most eventful and historical one. The home front is going along about as usual. we are having some hot weather 90 to 100 [degrees] in the shade and not cooling off much nights. well between Mac & myself we try to help Laura as much as possible in keeping things up. At your place, such as storm windows, screens, and odd jobs which are a little heavy for her. she is a real person and we enjoy helping her. I try to keep cool these days - by giving my boat and motor a work out on the ceder river. I suppose that sounds tame to you after crossing the Atlantic in one of those big jobs. I have two other friends over there Lloyd that you might have one chance in 10 million of contacting but will send along their address just in case you have that one chance. The news at home seems scarce and unimportant as you boys are the ones that make news. nowadays so will sign off for this time. Keep up the good work and we will try and do our part here. May God bless you and bring you back safe and sound Your cousin Jack (over)
