July 21st 1864 Thursday morning was very warm and sultry. There was nothing of any importance a going on till about 3 P.M. our Reg't was ordered to be ready for marching in an hours notice. Our things was all put on the ship Afrago a U.S. mail ship our Regt was marched down to the Depot and stacked arms till further notice
