July 23d 1864 Saturday morning found us still a ground on the bar it was very warm and sultry there was 4 Tow boats came down the river to help us off they all hitched on but they made no impression till noon at which time they all quit and Gen Grover went up to fort Jackson to make other arrangements but before he left
