Aug 22nd 1864 Monday morning found us marching towards Harpers Ferry but we halted for the morning at Bolivar Heights some 3 miles from Har. Fer. it was 2 AM we laid down to sleep till morn. At day break the scene of action was opened by skirmishers and was kept up nearly all day there was 5 rebs brought in that was taking on the skirmish line
