Aug 28th 1864 Sabbath morning we was awakened at 3 AM to prepare for to march at day break we was ready to march at day break but we did not start till 7 AM and marched to within 1/4 mile of Charleston and rested till after noon when we got up and marched on through the town and on some 3 miles to where we was a week ago and halted as soon as we was halted there was 18 men
