Sept 19th 1864 Monday morning we was up and ready to start at 3 AM we marched some 10 miles before we got to where we could get to see the rebs we went in but we was so cut up that we was soon scattered but we rallied again about 3 PM part the 8th Corps came up and went in we then drove them clear back through the town of Winchester
