Here we have portrayed a cell (a) which failed to connect with a cell from the other filament, so that it is left just as it was. b, c, d, are the old cells, empty now, having poured their contents into e, f, g, respectively. The contents of d, b, c, have thus united with those of the cells g, e, f, until there is no way of distinguishing between them.
