Olisthopus Dej. (Fig. h. H. X., Fig 1. H. [II?]) The two Iowa species are separated as follows: Elytra scarcely iridescent, base feebly emarginate, ocellate puncture at base of scutellar stria feeble. parmatus Say; Elytra iridescent, rather deeply emarginate at base, ocellate puncture well marked. micans Lec. 130. Olisthopus parmatus Say. Black: thorax rounded; feet testaceous; elytra margined with testaceous; postpectus pedunculated. Body black; antennae and palpi rufous; thorax transversely suborbecular, destitute of depreseed margin or sliva [?]. tsd ridgs: feet pale refous; petiole very distinct;slytra striats, innfuustured, idisc black. brown to the sixth stria, margin pale mefous, margianl insteretitial live slightly punctured on the iiner edge: outer black."
