110. July 1, 1918 Daphne, old dear,-- Today I motored to G.H.Q. and came back the happy possessor of another letter from you. It is the third you wrote from Arkansas, if I have counted correctly, and very much like the girl I'm in love with. I wonder if you realize how you "perked up" almost from the day you got down there. I can see it in your letters. You left Cottey tired and worried and harassed by the strain of hard work you had been through, and also, no doubt, by the annoyance of being with a lot of folks who jarred.
