114 8 July, 1918 My Dearest, I am stealing a few minutes this morning to write to you. Last night I was too lazy and no 'count generally. After playing cards with the boys until 10 o'clock I went to bed and read. My conscience hurt me after I got in bed. I happened to think that yesterday was the anniversary of the party you and Ruby had with Frank Applelby and I. Remember? And I believe last night was the anniversary of that wonderful night on Lake Harriett when you tried to kiss me and I wouldn't let you. I got to thinking about those events
