him I wished he'd send me an address to which I could mail his kodac. I always lost the list of addresses he kept sending me, and sent his letters - whenever I wrote - to the office in Des Moines. Well, he sent me a rather curt little note, with an address, saying that if I didn't care to use the kodac, I could send it to - I've forgotten where - it was a good little kodac, & he could surely find use for it, etc, etc. I didn't break my neck sending it the minute I received the address, and bang! Here comes a wire heralding his approach! ("Bow lower still - and - yes, you may kiss my hand.") When he arrived and conversation seemed scarce I suddenly remembered the kodac, and gave it to him. He put it in his pocket rather peevishly, and gave me the impression that he hadn't been able to sleep nights while it was gone.
