119 The Fourteenth. Dear Daphne,- This is the end of la journee de France, the French Independence Day. In return for the splendid celebration the French had of our Fourth the army did its utmost to help celebrate today. In our village the streets were again a blaze of color. One of them was particularly gay because it was being rechristened. By official ceremony its name was changed to la rue du President Wilson. My own celebration proved very pleasant. Lieutenant Pozzi , the French liaision officer and I went chateau hunting early in the morning. At noon we drove into the city of N-. There we had a good lunch at
