My dear Mother,- As if in reply to the howl I had made the day before, in a letter to Daphne, a howl to the effect that I wanted a letter from you, your part of the June 23 round robin from Adrian marched in last night. Right back I come with an answer. You are very rash, mother dear, about admitting how pleased you are with your son. You ought to wait until you see him in action. Perhaps he'll be a wild man, break the furniture, throw dishes at his wife, and storm and tear generally. For my own part I go a little easy about accepting your opinion of him. He'll have to show me; I intend
